This weekend is kind of a big deal around here. We are hosting the Relay for Life "walk"! There will be lots of people, and hopefully, not lots of rain.
I haven't signed up to walk for my team, and personally, probably only devoted about 10 hours of my time to the event. I will probably make it up today and tonight, though.
We may or may not have to use treadmills to get out of the rain. I am OK with walking in the rain. If the "walk" is meant for folks to experience a day of struggle, the rain will only make it tougher. Cancer doesn't care if it rains. I don't either. I know there are some folks that can't walk in the rain and I know there are some folks that don't want to walk in the rain. I just want to do my part, rain or shine. While the event is a celebration, and rain can dampen the enthusiasm, cancer never does anything to perpetuate fun and enthusiasm, except through this event. Personally, though, I like a little struggle with my fun. The reward is bigger. How do you think a cancer survivor feels?
Come check it out, rain or shine. Get up for cancer, and don't let the weather get you back down.
Enjoy the day...
