We "survived" Operation Purple Camp last week...not sure why that person used the word "survived", though. Some people are intimidated by camp, some relish it...I do the latter.
This week we have 4-H groups here! Some of the counties are: Gates, Perquimans, Harnett, Bertie, Tyrrell, Hyde, and Hertford...this is the "Hometown" crowd, as we like to call it. We have to "shw out", which is not a problem...we like to brag about what we can do, and we do all well. This week will be a challenge, though. Northeast District 4-H Activity Day is Wednesday, so a lot of the campers will have to check out for a day to go and compete in their respective activities...some are doing demonstrations, others giving speeches, all grades of stuff really. It's good that the 4-H Agents have really active programs...4-H is probably what made me sorta versatile...I can cook and chop wood, is that versatile?
Next week is another 4-H week...there are some nearby counties, like Pasquotank, Wilson, and Camden that will be joining us...it will be another full week. I LOVE that summer is finlly here...I always feel like I am only one step ahead of the game though...and it is easy to get behind...weather, field trips, etc can change the schedule in a moment's notice...lucky for me, I have a really smart and helpful staff.
Also - I read our first temperature in the triple digits yesterday, but it has been kinda dry - not real humid. Last night, we had international night - it's where all of our international counselors lead programs on their home countries....they will share songs, dances, and english translations with the campers...tonight we will have a smores campfire, which was rained out last night.
I miss two things, though...(1) Being able to do a "normal" blog & (2) my grandmother...my grandmother is 101.75 years old...she has lived a long time. She has lived a hard, but happy life. Pull through grandmother, but if you don't please know that my anguish will will be assuaged and I will revel in the solemn pride that I was your grandson. Thanks for the lives you touched, the lives you made better, and the lives made lucky by you. Your wit, beauty, and grin will forever be remembered...War eagle.
Enjoy the day, and enjoy it with others...
