Another week of camp is clawing it's way to friday...this week has been the most uneventful in my 7 years as a camp professional. Hats off to the agents and volunteers for bringing a GREAT group pf campers. Reba Holley's rendition of Ughm Bughm claimed 8 new initiates from camp staff to 4-H Agents. Campers enjoy seeing staff members get pranked, too - so it is a great combination.
The Adventure Group enjoyed their campout, and featured only one canoe spill - tip your hats to Surge and Cecelia, as well as Joe for leading a great trip. The Adventure Group also tested their mettle on the Giant Swing, an oversized and mind torturing challenge course element. Other activities we ran this week include: Riflery, Shotgun, Archery (Led by Nationally Certified Instructor Jonathan Casper), High Ropes, Kayaking and Canoeing (Evan and Kali), Pool (Richard and Maria), Challenge Course and Rock Climbing (Jonathon Hare), Arts and Crafts (Frankie), Sports (Damien), Ecology (Stephanie). Jordan Askew was our Staff Member of the Week - He did a great job this week with the Earth Group Boys.
As for next week - 4-H Week 2, then Operation Purple Camp! Our gears are lubed and fully engaged...This year's staff is the most complete staff ever assembled!
In my personal news, my grandmother is still hospitalized. My family is close by her side. It's my prayer that she is comforted in this time and that she can be peaceful. There is no person more remarkable than she is...she is a fighter, she is great, and she is celebrated. Grandmother - I am not sure if I will get to see you before your time...but when you get to heaven, please don't be shocked if you see Bear Bryant...and if you do, please be nice. Your children and grandchildren love you...War Eagle
Enjoy the day...

Chase - our prayers continue to be with your family...and for your staff in your new week of camp that started yesterday! Do you post pics of the activities and kids on the blog so that we can possibly get a glimpse of "ours"? I sent my 8 yr. old grandson to you this week - his first time ever away from home and to camp...pretty scary and very exciting! Hope to hear on the blog how it all is going and to maybe get a visual? good luck and God bless! :) Buddy Wilkerson
